Enchantments through Carpet – Decorative Enchanting Boost
DATAPACKA datapack that lets carpets and decorative blocks transmit enchantment power, enabling max-level enchantments with stylish builds.
In standard Minecraft, enchantment tables require empty air blocks between bookshelves and the table to boost enchantment levels. Placing any block that occludes the path, such as carpet, slabs, or glass, breaks the connection and reduces the available enchantment power. This datapack changes that: it allows specific transparent and thin blocks to transmit enchantment magic, so you can achieve a full Level 30 enchantment even when these blocks are placed in the way.
This is especially useful for builders who want to integrate enchantment tables into detailed interiors without sacrificing functionality. You no longer need to leave large empty spaces or use ugly bookcase placements. Instead, you can place carpets on the floor, hang lanterns, use glass walls, or build with slabs and stairs around your enchantment table, and the enchantment table will still count the bookshelves as valid. Anyone who values both aesthetics and efficiency in their enchanting setup will find this datapack practical.
- Carpets and thin blocks allowed: All types of carpets, amethyst buds, candles, lanterns, torches, slabs, stairs, signs, glass (excluding tinted), glass panes, and snow blocks now permit enchantment power to pass through.
- No configuration needed: Drop the datapack into your world’s datapacks folder and it works immediately. No commands or settings to adjust.
- Preserves game balance: Enchantment requirements remain the same; only the pathfinding of enchantment power is relaxed. You still need the correct number of bookshelves in the standard layout.
- Expandable list: The author invites feedback and will consider adding more blocks if requested. You can suggest additions via the project’s issue tracker.
- Lightweight and compatible: The datapack does not modify any core game files and works on singleplayer and servers running Minecraft 1.13 or later.
To use this datapack, simply download the file and place it in the datapacks folder of your Minecraft world or server. The datapack is designed for Minecraft versions 1.13 and above. It does not affect other gameplay mechanics. Note that tinted glass is intentionally excluded because it blocks light; other blocks that fully obscure vision may also not be supported. If you encounter issues or have suggestions, the project’s GitHub repository is open for feedback, though responses may be delayed.
