What is this tool?
The CurseForge Zip to mrpack Converter is a browser-based utility that transforms modpack `.zip` files exported from either the CurseForge App or website into `.mrpack` files. These generated `.mrpack` files can then be easily imported into launchers like Prism Launcher, ATLauncher or the official Modrinth App, allowing you to play your favorite CurseForge packs without being locked into a single ecosystem.
Everything runs locally in your browser. We don't upload your Modpack to any server. The browser parses your manifest.json, cross-references Mods from CurseForge to Modrinth via public APIs, and safely bundles everything into the new standard format.
Why does it exist?
Many popular modpacks are still exclusively hosted on CurseForge. However, players often prefer open-source or Modrinth-first launchers like Prism Launcher due to their lightweight performance, lack of aggressive advertisements, and cleaner interfaces.
Historically, to play a CurseForge pack on alternative launchers, you either had to rely on unstable built-in workarounds (which sometimes break due to API rate-limit changes) or manually recreate the pack mod by mod. This tool bridges the gap by seamlessly translating the Modpack metadata into the open .mrpack standard so that any modern launcher can read it natively.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Are my `.zip` files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion process is 100% client-side. The `.zip` file you select is processed locally using your device's memory and CPU, ensuring your privacy while saving upload times and bandwidth.
What happens to mods that aren't available on Modrinth?
If a specific mod from your CurseForge pack is not hosted on Modrinth, our tool automatically fetches the `.jar` file directly from CurseForge's Content Delivery Network and physically embeds it into the `overrides/mods` folder of your new `.mrpack`. This guarantees your modpack will launch offline and work exactly as intended without missing dependencies.
Which launchers support the `.mrpack` format?
The Modrinth pack format (`.mrpack`) is an open standard widely supported by modern Minecraft launchers, including the official Modrinth App, Prism Launcher, ATLauncher, MultiMC (with plugins), and many more.
Is this tool free?
Yes! It's completely free to use without any limitations, restrictions, or hidden fees. We believe in keeping the Minecraft modding ecosystem open and accessible for everyone.
