Loot Bag [Cobblemon] – Pokémon Drop Reward Data Pack
DATAPACKDefeated Cobblemon have a chance to drop loot bags filled with randomized berries, stones, fossils, held items, and more.
The Loot Bag [Cobblemon] data pack introduces a reward-on-defeat system to Cobblemon worlds. Each time you knock out a wild Pokémon, the pack rolls a chance for it to drop a loot bag—a single item that, when opened, grants a selection of randomized rewards pulled from several item pools. It turns every wild encounter into a small gamble, making routine battles more engaging without altering core Cobblemon mechanics.
This data pack addresses a common gap in Cobblemon survival gameplay: once you have captured a species or built a team, battling wild Pokémon offers little incentive beyond experience points. With Loot Bags in play, farming routes and grinding sessions gain purpose. You might walk away with rare apricorns for Poké Ball crafting, evolution stones for team building, or held items that sharpen your competitive edge. It is especially well-suited for players on multiplayer servers where resources are shared and every bit of efficiency counts, as well as solo players who want a steady trickle of utility items without resorting to creative mode.
- Rarity-based drops: Loot bag drop chances scale with Pokémon rarity—common species drop bags less often, while rare and ultra-rare encounters offer higher odds.
- Broad reward pools: Contents span berries, apricorns, feathers, herbs, evolution stones, fossils, fishing rods, held items, and Poké Ball crafting materials.
- Adjustable drop rates: Run /function ltbags:config to open a chat menu and choose Very Common, Default, or Very Rare—no file editing required.
- Lightweight design: A single data pack file with no texture packs or resource packs needed; works as a drop-in addition to existing worlds.
- Survival-friendly balance: Rewards are meaningful but not overpowered, intended to supplement normal progression rather than shortcut it.
Requirements and limitations: This data pack requires the Cobblemon mod (Fabric or Forge) and Minecraft 1.20 or later. On first installation, run /reload in chat to activate the pack properly—skipping this step may prevent loot bags from appearing. The config menu delivered via chat click events can break if options are clicked in rapid succession; allow a moment between clicks. This is a data pack, not a standalone mod, so it will only function in worlds where Cobblemon is already installed and active. Reward pools are fixed per the pack's loot tables and cannot be customized without editing the data pack files directly.
