Purple End Lighting - Purple Ambient Lighting for The End

DATAPACK

Alters The End's ambient light color to purple, with matching sky colors, using vanilla data pack mechanics.

The End dimension is known for its stark, pale void, but many players feel that a purple hue would better suit its mysterious atmosphere. Purple End Lighting is a vanilla data pack that changes the ambient light color of The End to a deep purple, while also adjusting the sky color and sky light color to complement the new tone. This gives the dimension a more cohesive and thematic look without requiring any mods or resource packs.

This data pack solves the problem of The End lacking a distinct color identity. By modifying the ambient_light_color attribute in the dimension type file, it applies a soft purple tint to all surfaces, making obsidian towers, end stone, and chorus plants appear richer and more ominous. The accompanying changes to sky_color and sky_light_color ensure the overall lighting remains balanced and natural within the new palette.

  • Sets The End's ambient light color to a custom purple hue for a cohesive look.
  • Also adjusts sky color and sky light color to match the ambient lighting.
  • Works entirely in vanilla Minecraft; no mods, resource packs, or external tools required.
  • Easy to install: place the data pack in the datapacks folder of your world or server.
  • Fully compatible with other data packs that do not modify The End's dimension type.

Requirements and limitations: This data pack is only compatible with Minecraft version 26.1 and above, because the ambient_light_color attribute was introduced in that version. It does not automatically apply to multiplayer servers—you must upload the data pack to the server's datapacks folder for all players to see the effect. Since the pack uses experimental dimension features, Minecraft will show an experimental settings warning when the world loads; a mod like Experimentalist is recommended to suppress this warning, though it is optional.
