Better Advancements - Enhanced Advancement Screen Overhaul

MOD

Redesigns the cramped vanilla advancements UI with a full-screen layout, color-coded icons, and clearer descriptions for Minecraft 1.12+.

The default advancements screen in Minecraft uses a small, tightly packed window that can be frustrating to browse, especially when playing with modded progression trees. Better Advancements directly addresses this by replacing that interface with a spacious, screen-filling view. As the spiritual successor to BetterAchievements, this mod brings the same philosophy of user-friendly design to the post-1.12 advancement system, making it easier to scan through tabs, read long descriptions, and quickly identify completed goals.

This is a quality-of-life and cosmetic tool first. While it dramatically cleans up the visual experience for players, modpack creators who need to define custom, structured advancement paths should look into complementary tools like Triumph for deeper control. Modders can also request integration hooks for future updates, though the current build focuses purely on the client-side presentation.

  • Full-screen interface that replaces the tiny default window with a layout that uses the entire screen.
  • Custom icon colors for completed, unearned, and challenge advancements, moving beyond the standard gray, blue, and orange.
  • Persistent background option to stop the fade effect when hovering over an advancement, keeping details visible.
  • Larger description boxes that expand to show more text without cutting off crucial information.
  • Tab titles in the UI header, so you always know which advancement category you are browsing.

Better Advancements requires Minecraft 1.12 or newer and runs on Forge. A Fabric version is also maintained for 1.18.2 and later. The mod is client-side only for visual changes, but can be installed server-side without issues if you prefer to distribute it in a modpack.
