Elytra+ - Dedicated Elytra Slot & Flight Tools

MOD

Adds a dedicated elytra slot, flight HUD, particle trails, and quality-of-life tools for gliding.

Elytra+ solves one of Minecraft's longest-standing annoyances: having to choose between an elytra and a chestplate. By adding a dedicated equipment slot for your wings (next to your armor), you can glide with an elytra while still wearing any chestplate for protection. The mod also bundles a full suite of flight tools — a draggable HUD, particle trail editor, durability warnings, and more — all controlled from a clean in-game menu accessible via the gear icon in your inventory or the /elytraplus command. Every feature is individually toggleable, so you only keep what you want.

Who should use this mod? Any player who regularly uses an elytra for travel, exploration, or elytra parkour. It is particularly helpful for survival players who want to wear a chestplate without giving up flight, and for builders or mapmakers who want visible particle trails behind gliders. The mod works on both client and server (server installation recommended for full functionality, but client-side only still enables most features for single‑player).

  • Dedicated Elytra Slot: Equip an elytra in a new armor slot so you can fly while wearing a chestplate. Includes auto‑equip, quick‑swap keybind, slot‑only gliding mode, and a wear‑percentage display (color‑coded green→red) that can be placed on the slot or as a draggable on‑screen indicator.
  • Flight HUD & Info: In‑flight overlay shows pitch (with optimal‑angle coloring), speed, altitude, heading, and estimated flight time. Right‑click an elytra in your inventory to see its remaining flight time in the tooltip.
  • Particle Trails with Live Editor: Stream a trail of particles, a solid swept ribbon, or both behind any gliding player. Choose from built‑in presets (End Rod, Flame, Soul Flame, Cloud, Snowflake, Heart, Rainbow) or pick a custom color. Adjust trail length and density in real time.
  • Low‑Durability Alert: Flash warning on the HUD (and an optional chime) when your elytra is close to breaking, so you can land before your wings give out.

Requirements: Elytra+ requires Minecraft Forge or Fabric (version 1.20.1 or newer) and must be installed on both client and server for multiplayer parity. It is designed to be lightweight and compatible with most other mods, though it may conflict with other mods that add custom armor slots — check your mod list. The particle trail feature may cause a slight performance drop in multiplayer when multiple players use trails simultaneously; you can reduce density or disable trails in the settings menu.
