Nature's Compass - Biome Locator

MOD

Find any biome in your world with a searchable compass, supporting vanilla and modded biomes.

Vanilla Minecraft requires players to wander blindly in search of specific biomes, which can consume hours of real time. Nature's Compass solves this by adding a craftable tool that locates any biome—vanilla or modded—anywhere in your world. Whether you need bamboo for scaffolding, mycelium for a mushroom island build, or a mod-exclusive biome for unique resources, this compass points the way.

The item is simple to use: right-click to open a searchable GUI where you can browse or filter all registered biomes, view details like temperature and rainfall, and set your target. Once active, the compass needle guides you to the biome's coordinates while an on-screen HUD shows distance and direction. Shift-right-click resets the compass to point at world spawn, giving you a reliable navigation baseline when no biome is selected.

  • Biome search GUI: Browse and filter all biomes, including those added by mods, with a real-time search bar.
  • HUD overlay: Displays target biome, distance, and coordinates when a biome is being tracked.
  • Configurable limits: Server owners can blacklist specific biomes and set a maximum search radius in the config file.
  • Simple recipe: Crafted with saplings and logs using the ore dictionary, making it accessible early in survival.
  • Modpack friendly: Designed to work with all biome-adding mods; permission granted for modpack inclusion.

Nature's Compass requires a mod loader like Forge or Fabric. It functions in both single-player and on servers, where the search distance and biome blacklist can be adjusted to suit world size and player fairness. Note that requesting a search across an extremely large radius may cause a brief server lag spike, so configure the maximum distance responsibly. No extra dependencies are needed.
