Drop Head – Player Head Drops on Death
PLUGINAutomatically drops a player's head upon death, preserving their skin and name.
Drop Head solves a simple but missing feature in vanilla Minecraft: player heads do not drop when a player dies. This small server-side mod adds that functionality by modifying the player loot table. When any player dies, their head is dropped as an item, carrying the exact skin and username of the deceased. This makes it possible to create trophy rooms, head-hunting minigames, or simply allow players to collect their friends' heads after a loss.
This mod is ideal for survival servers, mini-game hosts, and roleplay communities that want to add a personal, collectible token to every death. It works with any death cause – PvP, PvE, fall damage, or environmental hazards – and requires no configuration files to get started. Server administrators can install it alongside other head-related mods such as Killer Head for more advanced drop rules.
- Automatic head drops: Each player death generates a head item with the correct skin and player profile data.
- Universal death compatibility: Heads drop regardless of who or what caused the death, including environmental damage.
- Multi-loader support: Available for Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge, and Forge – install the version matching your server software.
- No extra dependencies: Lightweight modification that only touches the player loot table; no other mods or libraries required.
- Easily extendable: Works with complementary mods like Killer Head (for PvP-specific drops) and Stackable Heads (for inventory management).
Requirements: Drop Head is a server-side mod. You must install the appropriate version (Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge, or Forge) on your server. Clients do not need any additional mods, though player heads may appear as Steve skins if the client cannot fetch the original player texture. The mod does not modify any other game mechanics and is compatible with most other server-side mods and plugins.
