Voice Messages: Voice Recordings in Chat

PLUGIN

Add recorded voice messages to Minecraft chat with private commands, duration limits, and Simple Voice Chat integration.

Voice Messages gives your server a new way to communicate: let players record and send short voice clips directly in chat. Instead of typing lengthy messages or breaking immersion to open external apps, anyone can press a key, speak, and have their message appear as a clickable audio replay for everyone nearby or targeted recipients. It’s especially useful on adventure and roleplay servers, team-based minigames, or any community where tone and quick coordination matter.

The plugin leans entirely on Simple Voice Chat’s microphone handling and audio pipeline. This means all your existing microphone settings, activation mode, and noise suppression carry over without extra configuration. Once a voice message is sent, it shows up in chat as a colored entry with a play button—no extra windows, no file management. Private messages are just as straightforward with /vmsg or /voicemsg , allowing whispers to individuals or entire teams as long as the server grants the necessary permissions.

  • Send voice messages to public chat or as private whispers via /vmsg and /voicemsg commands.
  • Full integration with Simple Voice Chat’s microphone settings, including push-to-talk and voice activation.
  • Server-side length control: set max duration from 3 seconds up to 300 seconds (configurable in milliseconds).
  • Spam protection with configurable punishment—choose from none, warning, or mute for players who exceed rate limits.
  • Permission nodes let server owners restrict who can send voice messages and to whom.

Requirements and important notes: You must have Simple Voice Chat installed on both the server and every client that wants to see or hear voice messages; players without the mod won’t receive them. The sender’s microphone must be properly configured—make sure Voice Amplification in Simple Voice Chat settings is not set to -100% and that voicechat sounds are enabled, or the messages will be inaudible. Server configuration is stored in config/voicemessages_server.json, where you can tweak message duration limits and anti-spam behavior. If you disable the mod’s permissions for a group, those players won’t be able to use the /vmsg command.
