Expanse Shaders – Lightweight atmospheric visuals for Iris

SHADER

Lightweight Iris shaders that give the Overworld, Nether, and End distinct atmospheres with soft shadows, bloom, moving fog, auroras, and more.

Most shader packs trade away Minecraft’s native clarity for heavy post‑processing or apply the same fog and lighting to every dimension. Expanse Shaders take a different approach: each realm gets its own atmosphere while staying light enough to run smoothly. Overworld sunsets bleed peach across procedural skies, Nether steam banks flow between crimson rocks, and the End shimmers with slow aurora curtains — all without losing the vanilla soul.

Built alongside the End Expanse mod (but fully standalone), the pack knows exactly how to light chorus plants, crystals, and the void. Use it if you want world‑specific ambiance, soft shadow penumbras, and glowing light sources without a heavy frame‑rate cost. Three presets let you dial detail up for screenshot sessions or down for fast‑paced play, and the settings screen is fully localized into Russian and English.

  • Soft PCF shadows with rotating‑kernel penumbra — from both sun and moonlight, even at night.
  • Waving vegetation: leaves, grass, crops, and flower animations that respond to wind direction.
  • Water with irregular waves, sky reflection, sun glint, and underwater light shafts (crepuscular rays) with depth murk.
  • Dimension‑specific ambiance — rolling luminous steam in the Nether, aurora curtains with vertical light pillars in the End, and occasional meteor streaks across the stars.
  • Bloom around torches, glowstone, lava and more, plus a two‑layer atmosphere (near veil + distant haze) and filmic tone mapping with protected shadows.

Requirements: Iris Shaders mod (Iris 1.6 or newer) on a compatible GPU. The Low preset targets integrated graphics and disables dynamic aurora and steam; Medium and High enable all effects. Not compatible with OptiFine shader loading — Iris only. Works in any world, but the Nether and End effects benefit from native terrain generation (modded dimensions may not receive correct coloring).
