FOOTAGE is a Minecraft shader that recreates the look of a body camera or degraded VHS tape, built on top of Derivative shaders. It targets players who want a gritty, found-footage visual style without sacrificing realistic lighting and effects. The shader solves the problem of adding a diegetic, handheld camera feel to gameplay, while still offering modern graphical features like screen-space global illumination, water simulation, and animated shader grass.

Designed for single-player exploration, roleplay, or horror-themed builds, FOOTAGE works best with resource packs that emphasize texture detail. It supports 100% of physics mods (Pro version) for full compatibility with movement and entity physics overrides.

  • Body Camera & VHS Effects: Chromatic aberration, scanlines, frame jitter, and vignette that vary with movement and time.
  • Derivative Shader Base: Retains the core lighting and shadow improvements from Derivative, including PBR support and volumetric fog.

Requires OptiFine or Iris Shaders (version 1.20.1 or later recommended). VHS effects may cause minor motion sickness in sensitive players; disable options in shader settings if needed.
