Lost Signal – Lightweight Horror Shaderpack

SHADER

A lightweight psychological horror shaderpack for low-end devices, using oppressive darkness, grain, and panic effects to build tension—currently in beta.

Lost Signal is a horror-focused shaderpack built specifically for low-end and potato-tier devices. It solves the problem that most atmospheric horror shaders require powerful hardware by delivering layered dread through clever post-processing instead of heavy real-time lighting calculations.

Ideal for players who want to transform Minecraft into a psychological thriller experience without sacrificing performance, Lost Signal keeps frame rates playable while making darkness truly dangerous. The pack wraps every scene in an analog-video aesthetic—grain, signal degradation, and distortion effects that suggest you are watching a corrupted recording rather than a pristine game world.

Currently in early beta (version 0.1), Lost Signal actively invites feedback. While core effects like the flashlight-style torch, Fear Pulse heartbeat, and rain blur are functional, expect continued refinement. Some features may not yet be fully stable on all hardware configurations.

  • Dark, oppressive nights – low visibility and deep shadow
  • Dynamic flashlight effect – torches and lanterns create a focused beam
  • Analog-inspired grain and screen effects – film noise, scanlines, and signal artifacts
  • Rain blur – precipitation distorts distant details
  • Fear Pulse – a visual heartbeat that intensifies under threat

Requirements & limits: A device capable of running vanilla Minecraft at a stable frame rate is sufficient; the pack targets integrated graphics and older dedicated GPUs. You need OptiFine or Iris for shader support. As a beta build, occasional visual glitches and incomplete customization menus are to be expected. The pack works on Minecraft Java Edition; performance on mobile or Bedrock is not supported.
