N87 Shaders – Realistic Physics-Based Rendering Pack
SHADERA work-in-progress shader pack delivering physics-based rendering, caustic water, god rays, and enhanced Nether visuals for modern Minecraft versions.
N87 Shaders brings a physically accurate lighting model to modern Minecraft, solving the flat, uniform look of vanilla rendering. Its core goal is to simulate how light behaves in the real world, using physics-based rendering (PBR) to give surfaces correct reflectance, roughness, and ambient occlusion. This pack suits players who want a cinematic, modern visual style and are comfortable with a project that is actively being developed. If you enjoy watching sunlight scatter through tree canopies or seeing realistic reflections on water, N87 Shaders is built for that exact experience.
This shader pack is a fork derived from the open-source ARC Shaders by Null-MC (MIT license). All foundational credit goes to the original developer, while N87 Shaders extends the concept with its own refinements. Because it remains a work in progress, you may encounter incomplete features or occasional visual glitches, especially in less common biomes or during weather transitions.
- Physics-based rendering (PBR) for accurate material response to light
- Realistic caustic water with light refraction and wave patterns
- Volumetric god rays that cast from the sun and moon through objects
- Enhanced celestial bodies with detailed sun and moon textures and glare
- Reworked Nether rendering with better fog, lava light, and ambient occlusion
You need a modern Minecraft version (1.17 or later recommended) with OptiFine or Iris Shaders installed. A dedicated graphics card is strongly advised; an NVIDIA GTX 1060, AMD RX 580, or equivalent with at least 4GB VRAM provides playable frame rates at 1080p, but higher-end hardware will deliver smoother performance. The shader is not optimized for integrated graphics. Expect ongoing changes, and always back up your worlds before testing new builds.
