No More Brightness – Soft Daylight Dimming Shader

SHADER

Minimal Iris shaderpack that slightly darkens daytime brightness, reducing eye strain while preserving vanilla visuals.

Minecraft’s default daytime is often uncomfortably bright, especially if you’re playing in a dark room or during late hours. No More Brightness solves this by gently reducing overall scene brightness without introducing any cinematic effects, color filters, or performance-heavy lighting tricks. The result is a calmer, more natural-looking world that stays easy on the eyes while retaining the game’s original blocky charm.

This shader is built for players who want a purely functional brightness adjustment, not a visual overhaul. You’ll notice a softer sky, less harsh sun glare, and a general reduction in screen fatigue with zero learning curve. Because it makes no changes to terrain rendering, water, or artificial light sources, nighttime and interiors remain unchanged—only the aggressive daytime glare is tamed.

  • Gently darkens daytime sky and ambient light, reducing eye strain
  • Preserves vanilla color tone, block textures, and the selected-block outline
  • No bloom, custom shadows, reflections, PBR, or extra visual effects
  • Extremely lightweight, ideal for low-end systems and “potato” configurations
  • Works out of the box with Iris—no extra resource packs or settings tweaks needed

You need Iris Shaders installed for your Minecraft version (1.16.5 or newer). The shader runs on integrated graphics and dedicated GPUs alike, so even older laptops can maintain smooth frame rates. This pack does not add shadows, water caustics, or any advanced effects—it simply turns down the brightness to a comfortable level, keeping everything else fully vanilla.
