Out Of Focus – A Cursed Blur Shaderpack

SHADER

A fully configurable blur shaderpack that makes Minecraft look like you lost your glasses, ranging from subtle fuzz to complete visual chaos.

Out Of Focus is a shaderpack that applies a Gaussian blur to your entire Minecraft view, including held items and all mobs you encounter. It recreates the genuine panic of misplacing your glasses inside a blocky world. The pack was built as a humorous challenge tool: you can dial the blur from barely noticeable to nauseating extremes, making ordinary tasks like dodging creepers or reading signs absurdly difficult. If you are looking for a fresh way to torment yourself or a friend on a potato PC, this pack delivers exactly the right kind of wrong.

This shader is ideal for challenge runners, content creators seeking cursed visuals, or anyone who wants a vanilla-like look with exactly one parameter gone horribly wrong. Because it only introduces a simple post-process effect, it runs well even on integrated graphics, often matching or slightly exceeding vanilla frame rates when enabled. The downside is that high blur levels can be genuinely disorienting; this is a joke pack first and a visual aid never.

  • 8 blur presets: 3 (Subtle), 5 (A little Blurry), 7 (Blurry), 10 (Blurrier), 14 (Blurriest), 30 (Way Too Blurry), 50 (Sir, This is a Wendy's), 100 (WHY)
  • Full-screen Gaussian blur that affects the HUD, held items, mobs, and terrain equally
  • Surprisingly lightweight: uses a single-pass separable blur to stay performant on weak hardware
  • Quick configuration directly in the shader options screen, no external files needed
  • 100% vanilla-like lighting with no extra effects, so the only thing that changes is focus

Requirements: Minecraft Java Edition 1.16 or newer, with Iris Shaders or OptiFine installed. A graphics card that supports basic shader programs is necessary; the pack has been tested on integrated Intel HD Graphics and runs without major frame drops. Not recommended for players prone to motion sickness or eye strain, especially at blur levels above 30.
