RtfShader - Clean Atmospheric Shader

SHADER

A clean Minecraft shaderpack with smooth lighting, atmospheric visuals, and balanced effects for everyday gameplay.

RtfShaders is a Minecraft shaderpack built for players who want clearer, more natural lighting without straying far from the classic look. Default Minecraft lighting often feels flat—nights are either too bright or too washed out, water lacks depth, and shadows are nonexistent. This shader addresses those gaps by introducing smooth light transitions, subtle volumetric fog, and reflections that make water feel real without being overly reflective or jarring.

The pack is aimed at survival and exploration players who spend hours in the world and want a visual upgrade that stays functional. It does not reinvent Minecraft's style or add heavy bloom, lens flares, or extreme contrast. Instead, it focuses on balanced color tones and soft shadows that help you see clearly during cave exploration or nighttime builds. The result is a consistent atmosphere that works well in all biomes.

  • Smooth lighting – Eliminates harsh light banding and creates gradual transitions between day, night, and shadowed areas.
  • Enhanced water reflections – Adds real-time reflections to still and flowing water while keeping transparency clear for underwater visibility.
  • Atmospheric nights – Darkens the sky naturally with visible stars and a soft moonlight glow that does not blind you when looking up.
  • Dynamic shadows – Gentle, directional shadows that shift with the sun position without causing heavy performance drops during gameplay.
  • Balanced colors – Saturation and brightness are adjusted to avoid oversaturated blocks or washed-out textures, keeping the vanilla palette intact.

Requirements and limits: This shader runs on Minecraft 1.21 or higher and requires Iris Shaders; Sodium is strongly recommended for optimal performance. It is not designed for low-end graphics cards or integrated GPUs from before 2018—players with older hardware may experience reduced framerates. The shader also does not include custom sky textures or animated weather effects, so it relies on Minecraft's default sky and weather system.
