Soleron - Warm Atmospheric Shader for Minecraft Java
SHADERA performance-friendly shader with PCSS shadows, volumetric god rays, and slider controls for a warm, cozy look.
Soleron is a Minecraft Java shader designed for players who want a warm, golden-hour atmosphere with crisp shadows and smooth performance — all adjusted through in-game sliders, not config files. It solves the common problem of shaders that look great in screenshots but run poorly or require tedious manual editing. Soleron balances visual quality with system efficiency, making it suitable for mid-range and high-end hardware alike.
This shader focuses on soft, realistic lighting. The core rendering includes PCSS (Percentage-Closer Soft Shadows) with a 32-sample Poisson PCF filter on a 4096px shadow map. Shadows widen naturally as distance from the caster increases, mimicking real sunlight. An 80-sample raymarched god ray pass adds dramatic light shafts through trees and windows, even working with moonlight at night. Six tone mapping operators are available — ACES is the default for punchy highlights and deep shadows without blown-out skies. Colored shadows from stained glass, leaves, and other transparent blocks are supported and controllable.
- Fully tunable sliders — adjust shadow softness, bias, sample count, god ray density, decay, and more from the in-game shader menu. No external config editing required.
- PCSS soft shadows — realistic shadow widening with distance, using 32-sample Poisson PCF and a 4096px map for crisp yet natural edges.
- Volumetric god rays — 80-sample raymarched lighting shafts that work in sunlight and moonlight, with configurable density and weight.
- Six tone mapping options — choose between Reinhard, ACES, Hable, Lottes, Uchimura, and AgX to match your preferred color grading.
- Colored shadows — stained glass, leaves, and other tinted blocks cast accurate colored light and shadow contributions.
Soleron runs on Minecraft Java Edition with either OptiFine (HD U G6 or later) or Iris Shaders (1.19 and above). It supports most resource packs but may perform better with default textures. A dedicated GPU with at least 4GB VRAM is recommended for the shadow and volumetric features at higher settings. The shader is compatible with Fabric and Forge mod loaders when the appropriate mod is installed.
