Velocity – High Performance Minecraft Shader
SHADERA high-performance fork of Mellow Shaders delivering 240+ FPS on modest hardware, with optional reflective water and dynamic shadows.
Velocity is a high-performance shader pack forked from Mellow Shaders, engineered to retain visual polish while drastically reducing GPU load. The project delivers an average of 133 FPS on a 5GB NVIDIA Quadro P2200 using the Remarkably Optimized modpack, and most dedicated GPUs can push past 240 FPS. It solves the common trade-off where low-end hardware is forced to abandon shaders entirely—Velocity keeps reflective water, dynamic shadows, bloom, and sun rays as toggles, letting you dial in exactly the balance of looks and speed your system can handle.
Players on integrated graphics, older laptops, or anyone seeking competitive framerates without a completely flat visual experience will find Velocity useful. Because it inherits Mellow’s lightweight core and adds targeted optimizations, it runs stably across basically every modern Minecraft version. The pack is not a one-click magic fix: for the best results you need to pair it with a well-optimized modpack like Remarkably Optimized, and some mods—such as Flashback—require removing the C2ME mod to avoid conflicts.
- Forked from Mellow Shaders – retains the proven compatiblity and low overhead of Mellow, then refines shader code for higher throughput.
- Toggleable eye candy – water reflections, dynamic shadows, sun rays, and bloom can be switched on or off independently to match your hardware.
- High framerates on modest hardware – benchmarked at 133 FPS on a Quadro P2200; 240+ FPS achievable on most dedicated GPUs.
- Broad version support – works with basically every Minecraft version where OptiFine or Iris is available, including snapshot builds.
- Fast profile presets – the default “Fast” profile disables the heaviest effects, letting integrated graphics run the shader without major stutters.
Requirements: OpenGL 4.0 or newer graphics driver, a Minecraft instance with OptiFine or Iris/Sodium, and a performance-oriented modpack is strongly recommended. Note that if you add the Flashback mod, you must remove the C2ME mod from the Remarkably Optimized set to prevent crashes. The shader pack itself is tuned for minimal overhead but still expects at least an Intel HD 500-series iGPU or equivalent for playable framerates when reflections and shadows are disabled.
