Wavy World: Cursed Vanilla-Like Wave Shader
SHADERAdds bendable world waves with extensive customization for a wacky, low-res vanilla-like experience.
Wavy World is a shader that introduces wave-like distortions to the entire Minecraft world. It solves the problem of a static, predictable environment by offering a highly customizable tool to make blocks bend, ripple, and shift in real time. This shader is ideal for players who enjoy cursed or experimental visuals, content creators looking for funny or disorienting effects, or anyone wanting to add a playful, surreal twist to their gameplay. Be aware that the visuals are intentionally low-res and vanilla-like, not photorealistic, and the constant movement may cause motion sickness for some users.
The shader is built around three independent directional subcategories: Out X, Out Y, and Out Z. Each one dictates where blocks move along that axis. Inside every subcategory you will find eight options: Enabled toggles the effect on or off; Speed controls how fast the wave runs; Dead Zone creates a calm area around the player; Falloff reduces wave intensity with distance (higher numbers = weaker waves); Scale makes wave length longer the farther you look; Bumps Or Divots chooses between upward bumps, downward divots, or both; Offset shifts the wave cycle; and Length (when Scale is off) sets a fixed, uniform wave length. You can also toggle movement along the X, Y, and Z axes individually per direction. The shader strongly encourages opening the settings and experimenting with combinations.
Wavy World is especially useful for players who want to break the usual Minecraft feel without switching to heavy, realistic shaders. The dead zone and falloff options ensure that the area immediately around you stays relatively stable, so you can still build or move without total disorientation. Content creators can use it for comedic skits, dream sequences, or trippy exploration tours. The wave effects are fully client-side, meaning they do not affect server gameplay or break anti-cheat. However, the visual distortion can make precise building or combat difficult, and the effect is not recommended for players prone to dizziness.
- Three independent directional axes – Out X, Out Y, and Out Z each control block movement along that axis, allowing complex, multi-directional waves.
- 8 parameters per axis – Speed, Dead Zone, Falloff, Scale, Bumps or Divots, Offset, Length, and axis toggles give fine control over the wave behavior.
- Dead Zone – Keeps the area around the player calm, preserving a usable workspace.
- Falloff scaling – Reduces wave strength at a distance, preventing overwhelming chaos far away.
- Uniform length option – When Scale is off, Length ensures every wave has the same size regardless of distance.
Requirements: Wavy World requires OptiFine (with shader support) or Iris Shaders (with Sodium). It runs on most hardware with minimal performance overhead, though enabling all three axes at high speeds may drop frame rates on older systems. The shader is compatible with most vanilla-like resource packs but may conflict with packs that heavily modify block models. No server-side mods or plugins are needed, it works in both singleplayer and multiplayer.
