Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the Minecraft Skin Editor
How do I paint on the skin?+
Select the Brush tool (or press B), choose a color from the palette, then click and drag directly on the 3D model to paint. Use the UV Map view for precise pixel editing.
How do I rotate the 3D model?+
Select the Rotate tool (🖐️ or press R), then click and drag on the model to rotate it. Switch back to a paint tool when you want to draw again.
Can I import my existing skin?+
Yes — click the "↑ Import" button in the toolbar and select a 64×64 or 64×32 PNG file. Your existing skin will load into the editor immediately.
How do I download my skin?+
Click "↓ Export" to download your skin as a PNG file. You can then upload it directly to Minecraft via the Minecraft website or the in-game skin selector.
What does the UV Map view do?+
The UV Map shows the raw 64×64 skin texture laid flat. You can paint on it directly and see exactly which pixels correspond to which body part. Part labels are shown as overlays.
How do I undo mistakes?+
Press Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on Mac) to undo, and Ctrl+Y to redo. The editor keeps up to 30 undo steps per session.
What is the Fill tool?+
The Fill tool (🪣 or press F) flood-fills a connected region of the same color with your selected color — just like paint bucket in image editors.
Can I publish my skin to the gallery?+
Yes — click "Publish", enter a name and optional tags, and your skin will be uploaded to the public Minecraft Skin Gallery at mcmodhub.com/skins.
Does this editor support the new 64×64 skin format?+
Yes. The editor uses the modern 64×64 format that supports all body parts including the second layer (hat, jacket, sleeves, pants overlay). The UV Map shows all texture regions.
Is there a way to upload the skin to Minecraft?+
Export your skin as PNG, then go to minecraft.net → Profile → Change skin and upload your file. For Java Edition you can also change it in-game from the main menu.
